BLACK SATURDAY: Protest the Pipeline and Connect the dots to Climate Change
Organizer: 350.org and the Salt Spring No Pipeline Coalition
Date: May 5, 2012
Start Time: 12 pm sharp
Event Length: 1 hour
Location: Centennial Park, Ganges, Salt Spring Island, B.C.
Description
This is a peaceful, creative, collaborative community gathering, organized in conjunction with hundreds of 350.org events around the world that are “connecting the dots” on Climate Impacts Day, May 5.
Bring your friends, families and positive energy! Musical instruments, costumes, signs,banners, market-goers and supportive witnesses welcome.
Dress for distress: wear black for solidarity! Black represents the
inevitability of oil spills on our coast if the Enbridge Northern
Gateway pipeline goes through and tankers travel our precious waters;
it is also a show of mourning for our planet, endangered by global
warming.
Be part of a global movement to solve the climate crisis and send the
message that Salt Spring Islanders want an oil free coast – come out and show you care!
